WHY COACHING?

Here are some common reasons why people come to coaching. See if any of these resonate for you.

  • You want to make a change

  • You want to worry less

  • You want to do better at work

  • You want to be a more effective manager (or get a promotion)

  • You want a new job

  • You don't know what you want to do with your career

  • You want to exercise more or eat differently

  • You want to feel good about your choices and your body

  • You have something you really want to do, but can't make it happen

  • You're an exhausted new parent

  • You've got a teenager... ('nuf said)

  • You're a weirded-out empty-nester and don't know what's next

  • You're a nervous soon-to-be retiree and don't know what's next

  • You're trying to balance work and home

  • You're adulting and don't know exactly how to do it

  • You're frustrated with your relationship

  • You're lonely

  • You're overwhelmed

  • You're bored

  • You're tired of comparing yourself with everyone else

  • You're feeling the need for some inspiration

Coaching is essentially a partnership where we take the time to figure out ways for you to move forward and start feeling more in control of your life. (If we work together, ask me about the best line in The Wizard of OzIt's probably not what you think, but that's why the magic wand....)

HMMM,
SO HOW DOES COACHING WORK?

Since coaching is new to most people, here are some of the basics

  • Coaching is done over Zoom (or if you're sick of Zoom, the phone works...)

  • We can meet in person, but most of coaching is done virtually, as it's easier for busy people.

  • Sessions are 45 minutes.

  • We'll meet every week for the first 4 sessions, (then we'll do the frequency that feels right for you).

  • There's homework and accountability — but you'll like it, (I promise).

  • Our sessions are strictly confidential, as per the International Coaching Federation guidelines.

  • Some clients do coaching to handle something very specific or achieve a short-term goal, while others like the support and continue for a longer time. Totally your choice.

  • All coaching sessions are $200.

A LITTLE BIT MORE

Comparing coaching to other options

Coaching Compared to Therapy

Coaching can be much shorter term than therapy, which makes it a little more do-able (and less intimidating perhaps). In coaching we still dive deep and have conversations about real issues — day-to-day struggles and long-term dreams. Some clients work on a few specific topics and are done, while others come back for a refresh when they need a bit more support. As a coach I do not diagnose mental health conditions and am always clear with my clients if I think therapy is more appropriate than coaching. (For the record, I am a huge advocate of therapy when that's what is needed.)

Coaching Compared to Consulting

Coaching is not about business planning or about me being the expert and presenting a specific solution to a work problem, (i.e. we won't go over your marketing plans or build a long-term strategic plan). I do have extensive management experience that informs my coaching around work-related issues, managing teams and careers. Our coaching conversations will focus on ways to make your work, relationships and life better. If a  business consultant is what you're looking for, I'll recommend one to you.

FIRST STEPS

This is easy.
  • Send me an email saying you're interested in coaching.

  • I'll send you a quick getting-to-know-you questionnaire and we'll set up our first meeting.

  • We'll meet (over Zoom or phone) for a "Discovery Session". That's when I'll tell you more about coaching —  and you'll tell me more about yourself and why you want to do some coaching.

  • You ask all the questions you can think of, and I'll answer them.

  • After that session, you decide if coaching is right for you and we both decide if it's a good fit.

  • If you want to give it a go, we'll figure out a convenient schedule (initially every week for 45 minutes), go through a few more details, and that's it.

  • DONE & DONE!
