ABOUT LESLIE

(AKA: Coach Winick)

I'm a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (C.P.C.C.)

and work with clients who are ready to make a change.

My Background

I worked as a director at Stanford University for 25 years in the field of alumni relations. Throughout my professional life, my favorite part of work has been managing people — helping them through challenges and supporting their growth. That led me, in 2014, to become a member of the Stanford Manager Academy coaching team, working with Stanford's newest managers to help build their skills and confidence. That experience inspired me to go further and do the training and certification programs at the Co-Active Coaches Training Institute. My CTI course of study involved two years of classes, hundreds of hours of coaching practicums, rigorous supervision of coaching client sessions by Co-Active master coaches, study of the International Coaching Federation ethics guidelines, and passing both written and oral CTI certification tests. I am now coaching full time and have just a couple of spots open for new clients.

The Other Important Stuff about Me

Like all of us, I've experienced some biggish bumps in my life (some bigger than others) and love the idea of helping people figure out how to move forward, whatever their circumstances. Along the way I have  suffered from depression and still (always) work on my own stuff. From my experiences I've learned a lot about the importance of finding new perspectives; figuring out how to embrace change; and being truly pro-active in your life. All of this is to say, I bring a ton of empathy to coaching, with a firm belief that we can all make our lives better.

A little more about my background: I've had a wide variety of professional experiences (some better than others): over two decades as a manager and director at Stanford; founder and facilitator of the Stanford "Beyond S.A.D.D." staff support group; moderator for Stanford's "Brave Spaces," staff conversations about race; audience warm-up for Fog City Radio on KQED Public Radio, corporate relations director at Hawaii Public Radio; producer and on-air host for "The Broadway Show"; event planner for lots of cool organizations including The Kennedy Center, The Smithsonian, the State Department and the White House (way back in the day); outreach and engagement manager for the Children's Defense Fund; publishing roles with The New Republic, Washington Monthly, and Washington Weekly; and along with coaching I do professional voice-over work (that's a different website!) and am obsessed with ballroom dancing, organizing stuff, calligraphy, and San Francisco.

Not to be missed, I have a charming second-round husband, three grown daughters, and three little grand-people, all of whom are total inspirations.

About Me Being Your Coach

It's very much about being the right fit for each other and we can usually figure that out in our first conversation. I look forward to that.
